UTAS-Shinas holds “Oman IoT & AI Challenge 2024: Igniting Technological Brilliance”

 

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Shinas (UTAS-Sh) organized “Oman IoT & AI Challenge 2024,” held on May 8, 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Sohar, marked a significant milestone in the fields of technology and innovation.

Under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Engineer Omar Hamdan Al-Ismaili, Executive President of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the presence of His Excellency Dr. Saeed Hamed Al Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of UTAS, the event brought together leading minds in IoT and AI.

The grand finale began with an inspiring opening ceremony, featuring speeches by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Vice Chancellor of UTAS-Shinas, and Ms. Amina Al Jabri, Head of the IT Department and the event's host. Their words set the tone for a day filled with innovative ideas and collaborative ventures.

Following the opening ceremonies, attendees delved into valuable insights during a lecture entitled "Transforming Service Delivery with IoT," delivered by Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hadabi, Executive Director of the Strategic Planning Unit at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

A total of 52 course projects and 12 start-up projects, representing 18 institutions, showcased their ingenuity in addressing real-world challenges and driving technological advancements. After rigorous evaluations, the top three winners in each category emerged:

The theme of "Crafting Tomorrow: The Power of Transformation and Communication" resonated throughout the event, emphasizing the impact of technology in fostering communication and driving positive change across various industries.
Moreover, the 1st place winner in each category will represent Oman in the upcoming Arab IoT & AI Challenge 2024 in Dubai, further showcasing Oman's technological prowess on a regional stage.

The success of the Oman IoT & AI Challenge 2024 is a testament to Oman's commitment to technological advancement and leadership, inspiring a culture of innovation and collaboration among its brightest minds. Said event was spearheaded by the IT Department, UTAS-Shinas.
