PSC lecturers organize Spelling Bee Competition for GFP students

 

Preparatory Studies Center (PSC) lecturers hosted a Spelling Bee competition for Levels 1 and 2 students under the General Foundation Program (GFP) on 8th May 2024, at F-035, PSC Building, UTAS-Shinas Campus. The competition was designed to enhance students' vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation skills while fostering confidence in language learning. With the aim of creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. The competition was comprised of three exciting rounds. The 1st round was Spelling, which tested students’ ability to interpret and transcribe words based on auditory cues. It was followed by Kahoot Challenge for Round 2, which added a digital twist to the competition. The final round is Visual Spelling which challenged their ability to visually identify words and apply spelling rules. The event culminated in a thrilling finale where Mohammed Hassan Ali Al-Hadrami, L2 student, emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional spelling prowess. He was awarded a trophy by Ms. Amira Al-Balushi, Head of English Curriculum and Assessment Unit (HoU), recognizing his achievement and dedication. Overall, the Spell Bee competition at PSC proved to be a resounding success, not only in enhancing students' language skills but also in promoting a culture of learning and excellence. Through such engaging initiatives, PSC continues to inspire students to strive for academic excellence and personal growth. Mr. Aranganathan Mahalingam, spearheaded the event, along with the support of Ms. Shabeena Tajudeen, Ms. Liza Mathew, and Ms. Azza Rashad Awan Hassan.
