The Department of Business Administration was established in the Academic Year 2007-2008, commencing its certificate program with an initial batch of 66 students and 3 faculty members. Since then, the department has grown significantly. Currently, it boasts a student body exceeding 500 young minds excited to pursue their careers in Accounting, HR, and Marketing domains.
This vibrant department is empowered by a diverse team of 26 full-time academic staff members, representing various disciplines, nationalities, and backgrounds. The diversity and expertise of faculty members make the department a vigilant and experimenting society that explores new methods of learning and growing collaboratively. Our collective aim is to provide high-quality business education to the youth of Oman, enabling them to contribute to the country's economic growth.
Considering the economy’s requirements, the department offers three well-tuned specializations: Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Marketing. It awards Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degrees in Accounting and Human Resource Management. While students specializing in Marketing graduate with a Diploma.
Teaching and learning at the Department of Business Administration is a lifelong experience. The department believes in experiential learning, where learning by doing is a way of life. Students’ participation in the class is a routine. They collaborate to practice critical thinking by doing, experimenting, researching, and exploring the field of knowledge. We aim to develop business executives and entrepreneurs by creating and offering a supportive environment to enhance analytical skills, and leadership abilities.
Department of Business Administration is committed to contribute to the knowledge development by supporting various research activities. We organize research workshops and forums to keep students and staff updated on the research skills. A number of students’ research projects have received grants from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MOHERI) – Oman. Moreover, the faculty research also is funded by the MOHERI, as well as from the university resources. The teaching research nexus is well-knitted to ignite the young minds.
The department embraces its responsibility to the community at large. We offer various free training programs to the industry and other stakeholders. We conduct various social events and campaigns under social responsibility.
The Department of Business Administration is proud of its alumni’s accomplishments and their contribution to the country as a whole. Our alumni serve in various sectors, including banking, tourism, manufacturing, education, health, and service. They hold key positions in large organizations like Sohar Aluminum, Bank Muscat, OQ, PDO, National Bank of Oman, Madayn etc.
